Success for BBC films at the Baftas

Two BBC Films productions won major honours at Monday night's British Academy Film Awards.
Emily Young, director and writer of ‘Kiss Of Life’, won the prestigious Carl Foreman Award, while Michael Winterbottom's ‘In This World’ walked away with the prize for Best Film Not In The English Language.
The Carl Foreman Award is presented every year for special achievement by a British director, producer or writer in their first feature film. Co-financed by BBC Films, Emily Young's Kiss Of Life, starring Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Peter Mullan, first screened to much acclaim at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section.
In This World, the story of two young Afghan refugees trying to escape to Britain, was co-developed and co-financed by BBC Films. Director Michael Winterbottom dedicated the award to his two lead actors, Jamal Udin Torabi and Enayatullah.
In This World, winner of the Golden Bear at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival and Best Achievement in Production at the 2003 British Independent Film Awards, was written by Tony Grisoni and produced by Andrew Eaton and Anita Overland.
