BBC Films scoop nine nominations for EFA Awards

Fresh from marked success at the British Independent Film Awards, BBC Films productions have gathered an impressive nine nominations for the European Film Awards.
Stephen Frears' 'Dirty Pretty Things', the BIFA Best Film winner, has received four EFA nominations including European Film of the Year, European Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), European Screenwriter (Steve Knight), and European Cinematographer (Chris Menges). Dirty Pretty Things is a Miramax Films and BBC Films presentation of a Celador production.
Michael Winterbottom's 'In This World' picked up three EFA nominations to add to its BIFA wins, including European Film of the Year, European Director (Michael Winterbottom) and European Cinematographer (Marcel Zyskind).
In This World is a Film Consortium and BBC Films in association with the UK Film Council presentation of a Revolution Films production.
Roger Michell's 'The Mother', fully financed by BBC Films, received two nominations for its star Anne Reid as European Actress, and writer Hanif Kureishi as European Screenwriter.
The European Film Academy awards will be announced at a ceremony in Berlin on December 6.
