ITV Announces Upcoming Drama Series Slate

News Image
ITV has revealed its new slate of drama series, set to premiere this autumn.

The dramas airing later this year include 'Strangers', 'Unforgotten', 'Dark Heart', 'Butterfly' and 'Vanity Fair'.

Vanity Fair - Rising Hollywood star Olivia Cooke is Becky Sharp in ITV's adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair. Ms Cooke is joined by a star-studded cast including Claudia Jessie as Amelia, Tom Bateman as Captain Rawdon Crawley, Charlie Rowe as George Osborne, Johnny Flynn as William Dobbin, Martin Clunes as Sir Pitt Crawley, Frances de La Tour as Miss Matilda Crawley, Suranne Jones as Miss Pinkerton and Michael Palin as Thackeray himself.

Strangers - Professor Jonah Mulray's life is turned upside-down when he receives a call from Hong Kong. His wife, Megan, lived and worked there half the year, but Jonah lives a small, sheltered life, and his fear of flying has kept from travelling with his wife. But now he has no choice but to cross the ocean and makes a shocking discovery about his wife.

Unforgotten - Drawing on complex and current issues, the emotional drama questions everyday morality and analyses the very human stories behind crime as lead characters DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil 'Sunny' Khan, played by Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar, unravel the truth behind historic murders. The new six-part series will be written once again by Chris Lang and will see Cassie and Sunny delve into another intricate historical investigation, revealing a fresh web of long-buried secrets.

Butterfly - From a young age, 11-year-old son, Max, has identified as a girl and as puberty looms, he begins to present increasing signs of gender variance. When Max was eight, his father, Stephen, left the family home. But as Max’s conviction that he's in the wrong body intensifies, his distress escalates, and Stephen seizes the opportunity to return to live at the family home and support his son. Butterfly stars Anna Friel as Vicky and Emmett J Scanlan as Stephen.

Dark Heart - Whilst devoting his life to his work, Will Wagstaffe, also know as Staffe to his colleagues, battles personal demons. He's haunted by the unresolved murder of his parents, which affects both his private and professional life including his on-off romance with sometimes girlfriend, Sylvie. His closest relationship is with his sister Juliette and young nephew Harry, who stays with him when Juliette has troubles with her boyfriend. Tom Riley is Will Wagstaffe whilst his sister Juliette is played by Charlotte Riley.
