Tyrell To Create Affordable, Flexible Playout DR Solution

Tyrell has announced that it is to create an affordable, flexible playout DR solution that can be deployed on a global scale.
Established playout services represent a significant cost for any broadcaster. In most cases, adding playout disaster recovery to the bill busts the budget.
Current DR arrangements for many broadcasters are adequate, if inelegant. They keep a channel on air, but they're not exactly designed to retain viewers and they do little or nothing to satisfy advertisers.
If current hosted virtualised or public cloud-based playout DR alternatives were a genuinely affordable answer for broadcasters of all sizes, we would already be reading about them in the trade press and hearing about them at the many industry conferences.
Tyrell is partnering with one of the world's largest fibre network and IaaS platform service providers and a familiar playout automation and master control software vendor to create an affordable, flexible playout DR solution that can be deployed on a global scale. As well as forming part of an integrated playout DR strategy, broadcasters of all sizes will be able to use the service on an ad hoc, on-demand utility basis, for pop-up channels for special events and channel testing, including UHD and Super UHD.
We're looking forward to showing you all of this working at a launch presentation featuring a series of demonstrations that is scheduled to take place in early summer.
