Advanced Broadcast Services selected by Overload TV for playout contract

Advanced Broadcast Services (ABS) has won a contract to provide playout for Overload TV, a youth channel with a weekly audience of 300,000.
ABS’s work with Overload has involved more than just playout. The two companies started working together seven months before the launch, when ABS took on a technical project management role to help Overload meet Sky’ s rigid requirements.
Sass Jahani, Managing Director of ABS, said: “Launching a TV channel on Sky is a complicated business because Sky has strict project plans and everything has to be done their way. We’ve worked with them for a long time and we know how to give them what they want. For example we did the EPG schedules for Overload and got the technical signals agreed and signed off. And we configured all the different technical elements required.”
Gary Dingwall, Managing Director of Overload TV, explained: “We went to ABS after a recommendation from one of their customers. They were not the only company we talked to but they were the most impressive. Sass is a very knowledgeable guy and he was enormously helpful, even before roll-out. And it doesn’t stop there, we are going to expand with the launch another channel and ABS has the capacity for that. There would have been no point in going to a company who wasn’t big enough to accommodate us. We also plan to introduce interactive commercials and ABS has the most up to date technology to allow us to do that.”
