Utah Scientific Offers Affordable Stand-Alone Solution For EAS Presentation

Utah Scientific's MC-40 HD/SD channel-branding system is being used by a growing number of broadcasters as a stand-alone device to provide dedicated emergency alert system (EAS) presentation downstream of an existing master control switcher.
Tom Harmon, President and CEO of Utah Scientific, said: "Our partner, Heartland Video, recognised that many broadcasters making the transition to digital transmission needed a simple, cost-effective and compact device to perform EAS insertion.
"The MC-40 is the ideal device to fulfil that need, in addition to having the power and versatility to serve as a master control switcher or to integrate into a multichannel master control system."
The MC-40 accepts the EAS text and audio messages from an EAS text and audio messages from an EAS decoder and performs keying plus audio message presentation on its own, without the need for additional equipment, thus affording streamlined, cost-effective operation.
Based on Utah Scientific's popular and powerful MC-400 system, the MC-40 features two keyers, an integral logo generator and an audio clip store.
Dennis Klas, President of Heartland Video Systems, said: "The Utah Scientific MC-40 has proven to be an incredible value. It provides clean switching, logo insertion, and EAS insertion for a lower cost than most standalone EAS units. Also, with the addition of a companion router and a master control panel, the system can morph into a full-fledged, master control switcher. Broadcasters are finding it to be a powerful offering at a low, entry-level price point."
Utah Scientific's EAS and master control technology comes with the same industry-leading ten-year warranty as its routing systems.
