Tartan Small competition seeks submissions

Tartan Smalls have invited application for their 2004 creative television competition.
Tartan Smalls, a joint initiative between CBBC Scotland and Scottish Screen to create new and exciting work for those approximately 6 to 13 years of age, offers an opportunity for new or existing talent to enter this exciting creative genre. Applications are welcome from individual writers or from writer/producer/director teams. And where necessary Scottish Screen and CBBC will introduce writers to prospective producers and directors.
Scripts of all genre are welcome, but tone and focus should be inspired by and be appropriate for the 16:35 or 17:00 weekly drama slots on BBC One. It is important that the duration and the cost of the film is considered and projects exceeding nine minutes in length will not be selected.
After the initial shortlist, a panel consisting of representatives from Scottish Screen and CBBC Scotland, as well as individuals from the independent sector, will select three winning projects.
Successful applicants will be awarded a Tartan Smalls commission where usual CBBC contractual procedures will apply. With additional support from Scottish Screen National Lottery Fund, awards will be for £40,000.
