VRT CHOOSE VISTEK ARC FOR WIDESCREEN NEWS

VISTEK have helped to complete the conversion of Belgium broadcaster VRT’s news transmissions into widescreen format.
The Buckinghamshire-based company provided 50 V1647 modular aspect ratio converters (ARC) to the Flemish language news and radio broadcaster in time for the January 7 transmission deadline.
The VRT news department had to be converted and transmitted in a 16:9 aspect ratio. However, a major consideration for the news department was the form in which various media outlets sent in their material. A substantial amount of news material was arriving from outside agencies in a 4:3 aspect ratio. It was also often necessary for VRT to provide 4:3 formatted pictures for out-of-house applications. So VRT chiefs turned to Vistek to provide reliable aspect ratio converter - which was crucial to the changeover.
Luc Calluy, VRT’s project engineer, said: "Vistek approached the project in a very professional and competent way. The high picture quality through the ARC was an important consideration, together with modular and compact design. The use of modular converters has allowed us to add other Vistek signal conversion modules to match the ARC to the surrounding signal environment. Vistek also helped to speed up the installation process by pre-loading specific conversion ratios to suit our operations." (GMcG)
