Indian broadcaster equips new digital head-ends with Scopus

Doordarshan, India's leading television broadcaster, have ordered additional digital video broadcasting platforms from Scopus, to be used for satellite TV broadcast head-ends throughout India.
Scopus are equipping Doordarshan with digital broadcast head-end systems and project integration, with their strategic partner in India, Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), in Mumbai as well as at sites in northeast India. These systems are being deployed to enhance Doordarshan’s abilities to further diversify their programming while at the same time improving network usability and control. The new head-ends are also provided with built-in redundancy to ensure system stability required by satellite transmissions and broadcast.
The platforms are comprised of E-1000 broadcast encoders, IRD-2600 professional receivers for monitoring and a state-of-the-art Network Management System based on Scopus’ CODICO NMS-4000.
Arie Vered, Scopus Director of Asia Sales, said: "Scopus and BEL have forged a remarkable relationship with Doordarshan in upgrading their digital broadcasting capabilities. This new deal proves that our previous work with Doordarshan, supplying reliable platforms for their reception sites, paved the way for our selection to providing them with new digital platforms."
