Munro Associates refurbish Lyndhurst Hall

UK studio design consultancy Munro Associates have recently completed some acoustic refurbishment work in Lyndhurst Hall, the centrepiece of Sir George Martin’s AIR Studios complex in North London.
Munro Associates have had a long association with the facility, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The company’s managing director Andy Munro was responsible for designing Lyndhurst Hall’s custom monitoring and has acted as an acoustic consultant on a number of occasions.
The most recent collaboration came about as a result of AIR’s decision to install a new Neve 88R console, modify the air conditioning and install a larger client lounge in Lyndhurst Hall. AIR’s technical manager, Tim Vine-Lott, felt it was important to safeguard the existing ‘sound’ of the room and to this end he appointed Munro Associates to measure the acoustic response both before and after work was undertaken.
Although the new console made no difference to the overall sound of the facility, the modifications to the air conditioning did have a minor affect and resulted in Munro Associates tweaking the acoustics to make the sound more resonant at the bass end.
