Belgian TV embrace maps from Curious

In a bid to revolutionise the process of creating maps for transmission, Belgium’s commercial television industry has embraced Curious World Maps v2.0, from Curious Software, as a modern standard for all news and weather broadcasts.
Sales of the software to private commercial stations have replaced outdated methods of map production that rely on several software packages - Photoshop, Paint and Effect for Maps, and Atlas for database - all of which fail to deliver the quality synonymous with the Curious World Maps software.
Vincent Jeumont, head of systems and projects for one such station was first introduced to Curious World Maps at IBC in 2002. His station, RTL-TV1 based in Brussels, purchased the software earlier this year and has already found it to be a vast improvement in terms of both quality and ease of use.
Jeumont said: “Curious World Maps has a "geo-coded" database which means we no longer have to switch between two pieces of software such as Atlas and a graphics software. It also allows us to define and switch between different styles of maps without redrawing them. We are very happy with the Curious mapping software, especially the animation tools and the 3D export.”
