Bowmore Scottish Screen Awards winners announced

Robbie Coltrane and Laura Fraser were among the winners at the Bowmore Scottish Screen Awards for 2002.
The awards, voted for by Sunday Times Scotland readers, are for Scottish actors, actresses, filmmakers and films, that have made the most impact for Scotland during the previous year.
Robbie Coltrane picked up the ward for Best Actor for his role as friendly giant Hagrid in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', while Laura Fraser collected the Best Actress award for her part as a feisty blacksmith in 'A Knight's Tale'.
Craig Armstrong picked up the award for Best Filmmaker (which is awarded for excellence behind-the-scenes) for his music in 'Moulin Rouge', while the Best Scottish Film award went to World War II drama, 'Enigma', which starred Dougray Scott and Kate Winslet
The prizewinners will receive their awards at a special lunch hosted by Morrison Bowmore Distillers on Wednesday 24 April in Glasgow. Kenneth Mackay, Director of Sales & Marketing for Morrison Bowmore Distillers, will present the awards.
Mackay said: "Bowmore Single Island Malt Scotch Whisky are, once again, delighted to be sponsoring the Bowmore Scottish Screen Awards along with Scottish Screen. As sponsor of these awards since 1997 we have on our roll of honour some of the finest acting and filmmaking talent in Scotland, including Robert Carlyle, Peter Mullan and the late Ian Bannen to name just three. We know these awards are highly prized by the recipients as they are voted for by the Scottish cinema-going public and are therefore a true reflection of popularity. We are delighted to add the names of Robbie Coltrane, Laura Fraser and Craig Armstrong, as well as this year¹s winning film 'Enigma' to this distinguished list."
Steve McIntyre, Chief Executive of Scottish Screen, is delighted that the Sunday Times Scotland has also continued with its enthusiastic support of the awards. He said: "We know that there was a terrific reader response this year to all the nominations put forward. Scotland continues to make its own special impact on world cinema, and the Bowmore Scottish Screen Awards is a way of letting cinemagoers, rather than just movie critics, make their choice of favourites. It is certainly an award to be proud of, as, at the end of the day, it is public opinion that really matters."
