Studio Technologies, which produces audio, video and fiber-optic products for the sound, installation and broadcast markets, will focus on the Live-Link 07X and 200 series announcers consoles. Big news is that the 07X has applications involving 4K camera systems.
TSL Professional Products, which operates in the audio, loudness, tally, and distribution areas, will have the SAM1-3GM for streamline workflows in TV production. Its reach takes in network operations, master control, outside broadcast, studio and postproduction.
Pixel Power has designed a file-based rendering solution that gives users of its graphics engine a software version that runs on standard IT hardware. It renders audio and video files using the same template-based system as the Clarity hardware systems. It also renders and composites graphics over video clips. Other elements are the asset management and file delivery capabilities. Pixel Power is looking to fire up applications in IPTV and nonlinear TV, content repackaging and news production.
Digital Nirvana’s NAB story will be new software for its Monitor IQ product, plus the MediaPro IQ content repurposing solution. The key elements of the new software are flexible content archiving, real-time newscast exporting and H.264 video support.
Loudness monitoring and audio logging capability complete the package. The MediaPro IQ offers a low-cost way to repurpose HD clips.
Kodak has added an aspect ratio app to its Cinema Tools product, allowing filmmakers to test their shooting plans against aspect ratio issues. You take a reference shot and overlay it with 2-perf, 3-perf, 4-perf, the 16mm formats and other popular aspect ratios. This capability joins the lab locator and sun, film and depth of field calculators.
Edit Share has advanced Lightworks to 11.2 status, and this release is on MAC 0SX, Linux and Windows. The new features include added support for AJA I/O hardware, added support for screen capture using the record panel, native H.264 MOV playback, added curve effect to FX colour correction effects, and a better import panel.
Digital broadcast specialist Tedial has developed some enhanced web-based technology for its MAM system based on a new interface. Mixed skill operators can locate and initiate workflows in order to process content. This can involve simple editing or transcoding. Tedial will also emphasise its workflow manager Ficus, which now offers business process management capabilities, and an interactive workflow builder. The company’s content exchange software Media Amigo points it towards private cloud solutions.
Bluefish444, known for its uncompressed 4K/2K/HD/SD SDI video cards, has released an updated Apple Mac installer for its Create & Epoch video cards, supporting AVID Open IO and Assimilate software running on OSX 10.8.
The Create video card options are already certified by AVID for Open IO with OSX 10.7. Bluefish444 installer 8.6.0 adds new functionality to Bluefish444’s SDI I/O support for AVID Open IO, and support for the latest OSX 10.8. New SDI I/O functionality offered via the Create video cards includes hardware scaling for draft quality modes, 12-bit precision YUV/RGB color space conversions, AES and analog audio mapping, SDI capture, preview and digital cut support, and HDMI video preview. Bluefish444 installer 8.6.0 for OSX 10.8 gives the user SDI support for Assimilate SCRATCH Finish and SCRATCH Lab v6.2 and v7.
Mediaproxy, known for its compliance logging and content monitoring solutions, has launched a ‘next generation’ set of LogServer platforms and software, with a new mobile client application and content matching capabilities. The products start with LogServer IP, an extensible native MPEG streaming server solution; LogServer ASI v8, which is a significant advance in compliance logging with mixed features that include loudness monitoring, transcoding and viewer ratings analysis; and, LogPlayer Mobile, which gives an additional path to recorded media and meta-data on LogServers. This comes as native iOS and Win RT apps, and provides live streaming and playback from any connected LogServer system across all available channels.
NATIV Total Media Logistics’ line for NAB is cost-effective workflow management, to be achieved with Mio SaaS. This is a development out of V5 of the Mio Everywhere platform, and the discussion areas include frame-accurate, web-based logging, integrated remote ingest and delivery, content repurposing, and workflow design and orchestration.
VidOvation’s strategy - delivering broadcast quality to the corporate and government markets at equitable price points – has produced new technology for the IPTV, webcasting, and fiber optic transmission sectors, plus an upgraded 60GHz wireless video link system. The two that will catch the eye are the webcasting video streaming technology, which handles the streaming and encoding for up to four cameras over Wi-Fi, and the open architecture of the IPTV and video-over-IP implementation.
Ericsson, concentrating on the multi-platform infrastructures and eco systems behind video delivery, will have a world’s first in the shape of an HEVC/H.265 encoder for the delivery of linear TV over mobile networks. Other demonstrations will cover MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming, a new video optimised media delivery network solution, and the coming of Ultra HD – 4K for broadcasters.
Matrox Graphics Inc has introduced a fiber-optic KVM extender called Avio F125, which separates dual HD video, keyboard, mouse, stereo analog audio and USB 2.0 devices from a workstation. The purpose of the product is to allow users to extend high-speed USB 2.0 devices and high-resolution digital video in demanding environments, by utilising the full 10Gbps bandwidth that fiber optic technology offers.
This involves a set of flexible connectivity options. The transmitter/receiver pair extends two single-link DVI (2x1920x1200) or one dual-link DVI (2560x1600 or 4096x2160) video, and multiple high-speed USB 2.0 compliant devices from the host computer by up to 400 m (1312 ft) over multimode cable and 4 km (2.5 mi) over single-mode cable. Avio F125 will transmit all signals with zero compression and zero latency on a single duplex LC-LC fiber-optic cable.
Vizrt will major on its tradition of integrated graphics and video workflow and improvements to its MAM, broadcast graphics, and online and mobile video delivery lines. Its booth shows will focus on new technology for weather reports, and using live virtual set and immersive graphics technology. The powerful Viz Engine, a real-time 3D compositing system, now has IP-streaming capability. And look for the 4K rendering capability.
Assimilate’s SCRATCH LAB user base will get demonstrations of ‘advanced dailies’, on-set-grading and VFX dailies. The other element will be the creative DI capabilities of SCRATCH.
Civolution will lead with improvements to its NexGuard suite of forensic watermarking solutions, to the SyncNow interactive multi-screen range, and to the Telextrax media monitoring line. The commercial message is that digital watermarking and fingerprinting give content owners opportunities to open up new revenue streams.
NexGuard now provides integrated multi-screen protection for streaming OTT content across all devices.Read George's article in the online edition of Regional Film & Video here.
