STV Launches App For Android

Following the success of the STV News iPhone app, the Scottish broadcaster has launched an app for Android handsets, the first of its kind in Scotland, providing users with instant access to the latest news, sport and high quality video reports on their mobile phones.
The free STV News application for Android smart phones allows users to read the headlines at a glance or browse separate categories for the latest in news, sport, entertainment, as well as lifestyle features and Scottish heritage.
It also features constantly updated weather forecasts for the next 24 hours and five days ahead, for more than 75 towns across Scotland.
In addition, video reports from the STV News team are accessible with a single click.
Alistair Brown, Chief Technology and Platforms Officer at STV, said: "Our STV News iPhone app was launched just over a year ago and has now been downloaded a phenomenal 100,000 times.
"As part of our commitment to making our rich content available on different platforms - anytime, anywhere - we are delighted to be bringing STV News to Android.
"This is the first dedicated news app from Scotland to be created for the Android market," he concluded.
