Gigawave to launch Digital Mobile Microwave Link Range at IBC

Gigawave is to launch its Digital Mobile Microwave Link Range of equipment at IBC 2002 in Amsterdam this September.
Following on from the huge success of the analogue Mobile and Portable Microwave Link Range, Gigawave has listened to the demands of broadcasters worldwide to develop digital versions of its entire range of products.
In order to fully satisfy the demands of the outside broadcast market Gigawave has undertaken a series of Equipment tests and trials with customers in the last 18 months. This programme has included operational and environmental tests in a series of climactic conditions throughout Europe, the Middle East And Asia. Indoor and Outdoor applications have been tested. Gigawave sees this process as essential in order to provide products which have been tested for both technical excellence and user operability, not only for radio cameras but for the full range of mobile and portable digital microwave links.
Broadcasters need flexibility in their digital link options. Gigawave can offer the solution to all applications.
For example, for multi-camera Sports Outside Broadcast applications, where compression latency causes synchronisation difficulties, Gigawave’s G-Code ‘No Delay’ encoding system with 26Mbps of video quality, together with 64QAM modulation, provides the solution with real-time high quality broadcast video with no end to end delay.
For ENG single camera applications such as News Gathering on location, where picture robustness is paramount, MPEG2 encoding with QPSK modulation can provide the best coverage. The MPEG2 encoder features variable bit rate operation depending on the application. This is an additional option is provided by Gigawave for all the digital product range.
The D-Cam Wireless camera system features direct SDI 270Mbps input with 2 AES/EBU audio channels, and can include Both encoding techniques at the customer’s option - all encoding and modulation functions are fully integral - modulation options include QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM.
Switching between encoding and modulation options is easy within the camera docking unit and the MVL-D Receive Control Unit.
The Gigawave MTV-D Digital Transmitter Unit can be used for a variety of mobile applications. Suitable for vehicle or helicopter mounting, or highly portable point to point link applications, the MTV also features the full range of options for integral encoding and modulation.
Gigawave’s popular MVL Series Portable Microwave Links are also available in a digital version, The MVL-D Series. This series features a full range of encoding, decoding, modulation and demodulation equipment, all fully integral within the units.
All Gigawave’s Digital range maintain the Company’s reputation for producing high build quality equipment which is designed to be lightweight yet robust enough to cope with the rigours of the Outside Broadcast world.
When used in conjunction with Gigawave’s wide range of Microwave Antennas, The Gigawave Digital range really takes care of all your mobile and portable digital microwave link needs.
