Digital Vision Launches Enhanced Range Of DVO Tools

Digital Vision will be presenting innovative new additions to its DVO (Digital Vision Optics) collection of resolution-independent image processing tools at this year's NAB.
The new tools further enhance the power of Digital Vision's data-centric workflow systems, providing unparalleled creativity to artists and users worldwide.
Developed through a vigorous research program that has resulted in new techniques to repair damaged film and video tape, and built upon Digital Vision's unique, award-winning technology, these tools are superior in both speed and quality.
DVO Sharpen provides stunning and realistic pictures using adaptive picture analysis and processing. Advanced controls further adapt the processing depending on the original focus or illumination levels. At the same time DVO Sharpen does not create the unwanted side effects such as amplification of grain/noise and halo effects around already sharp items that are typically associated with standard algorithms.
DVO Re-grain can be used to quickly set up and generate natural looking film grain, matching almost any type of film stock. It features intuitive controls for grain size and sharpness, as well as highlight and lowlight intensity behaviour in the separate RGB channels. DVO Re-grain complements the world renowned DVO Grain, noise and grain management tool, which has been further optimised to give yet more impressive performance.
DVO Fix is used to swiftly select and automatically repair both minor and major imperfections such as defects associated with degraded film - blotches, staining and physical damage etc. Using a brush or shape for selection, DVO Fix automatically fills in with motion- and grain-compensated imagery for seamless results. DVO Fix is particularly efficient when used with the highly respected DVO Dust which will be shown at NAB with significant improvements in speed and performance and is fully integrated with DVO Fix so false positives can be corrected and users can take full advantage of the automated process before reviewing and tweaking the results. The algorithm has been further improved in the non-linear domain to give an even higher level of accuracy.
DVO Brickwall originates from Digital Vision's renowned BitSaver product. This filter allows picture detail to be retained and compression artifacts to be reduced, and in conjunction with the other image processing tools such as DVO Grain, ensures the resultant compressed image sequence quality can be dramatically improved.
Finally, DVO Alias is an indispensable tool when there is a need to improve negative side effects, known as aliasing, from out-of-band vertical frequencies, which show up on-screen as undesired line flicker or "twitter".
