Telekom Malaysia Selects Pixel Power Technology For IPTV Rollout

Pixel Power, a leading supplier of broadcast graphics systems, has announced that Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM ) has purchased BrandMaster and LogoVision branding and master control technology from the company for its IPTV rollout, announced earlier this year.
The deal has been overseen by the company's Asia-Pacific partner Gencom Technology, which is acting as the project designer and systems integrator on behalf of Gencom's Malaysian partner, Dagang Teknik.
Pixel Power has supplied three BrandMasters, the unique combined master control and graphics technology, alongside four LogoVisions, which are dedicated branding and playout devices.
The technology is being installed in a new playout centre in Cyberjaya, south of Kuala Lumpur.
Gencom Technology has been contracted to supply the serial digital video infrastructure for the project and is integrating this into a master control room, a 55-rack equipment room, a scheduled playout suite, a 50-workstation compliance room and five NLE workstations.
David Valois, Project Manager at Gencom, said: "The BrandMasters, along with the video servers, from the heart of the scheduled playout operation. We expect the number of BrandMasters used will grow over time."
In March, TM announced its IPTV rollout, which is bundled as part of its triple-play offering via its high-speed broadband service, UniFi. Currently, TM's IPTV service includes 22 channels, video-on-demand (VOD) and other interactive services, with more expansion underway.
Valois added: "We are providing a bespoke service to TM , as we do with each client and project. Gencom has a longstanding relationship with Pixel Power and we are very excited by the success of BrandMaster. We love the cost-effectiveness and competitive edge that integrating branding and master control provides. As far as we are concerned, there's no other product on the market capable of offering these attributes for TM's IPTV development."
James Gilbert, Pixel Power Joint MD, said: "BrandMaster is now achieving significant success in the Asia-Pacific region and we expect this to continue because of the unique nature of our solution. We are working closely with Gencom, as we do with all our customers and partners, to ensure a smooth deployment."
