Cardiff Graduate Film-Makers Tour Self-Built Cinema

An innovative approach to film distribution will hit the UK this month as a group of graduate film-makers from Skillset Media Academy Wales embark on a three-week tour of University campuses with their own self-built cinema - packed into the back of a campervan.
Indie film production company 33Story are challenging the multiplexes by taking their debut feature film, Big Font, Large Spacing on a tour of 17 universities campuses including Oxford, UCL, Bangor, Sheffield, Bristol and Cardiff. The film will be shown on their own self-built 3 metre outdoor cinema screen, transported in the back of a 1983 VW camper.
The film, which had its world premiere at the Atlanta Film Festival last year, is a comedy exploring the student way of life as two slacker psychology students aim to complete a 5000-word essay in 12 hours to avoid failing their degrees. It was produced by Skillset Media Academy Wales graduate Vivien Muller-Rommel in conjunction with Welsh TV production company Boomerang.
Hannah Raybould, Skillset Media Academy Wales Project Manager, said: "Organising a tour of this scale is highly impressive. Vivien and Paul are a great example of collaboration between graduates from our Media Academy courses in Wales and this tour demonstrates how creative thinking and an understanding of distribution can enable fledgling filmmakers to reach new audiences through non-traditional methods."
The film will be coming to Cardiff University on October 16 and will be shown at the student union. The event is open to the public.
