London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival UK Tour

The 21st anniversary London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (LLGFF) on Tour runs from 14 May to 30 September 2007 visiting around 40 towns and cities across the UK and Ireland.
Further information on the Festival, including additional venues and playdates, can be found on our website www.llgff.org.uk.
It has been a great year for queer cinema and the ten feature films in the touring programme reflect the richness of the Festival programme. The LLGFF continues to celebrate the diversity of lesbian and gay culture with outstanding contributions this year from Asia and South East Asia well represented in the tour selection. Here’s a run down of what’s to come.
'The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros' comes from the Philippines and is the acclaimed first feature from film-maker Auraeus Solito and winner of the 2006 Teddy award at the Berlin Film Festival.
'Eternal Summer' from Taiwan-based director Leste Chen is a beautifully filmed drama of infatuation exploring the challenges and unexpected consequences of adolescent love.
Singapore film-maker Royston Tan (15) returns to the Festival with his new film '4:30'. Told almost without dialogue, it is the remarkable depiction of a young boy’s isolation and his desperate attempts to connect.
In Chinese tradition, red doors are said to bring good luck and harmony. However, to the dysfunctional Wong family living in the suburbs of New York, harmony couldn’t be further away in Georgia Lee’s fresh and well scripted 'Red Doors'.
There are references to opera and philosophy in Maria Maggenti’s romantic comedy 'Puccini For Beginners'. Featuring the uptown locations and neurosis of Annie Hall-era Woody Allen, and a Greek chorus of sushi chefs its a classy date movie from the director of 'The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love'.
In her new feature, 'Tick Tock Lullaby', Festival favourite Lisa Gornick (Do I Love You?) reassembles some of the same cast (including herself and Raquel Cassidy in the leads) to give us her idiosyncratic take on motherhood.
What makes tender coming-of-age story Sonja special are the strong performances by the young cast of Sabrina Kruschwitz, Julia Kaufmann, Christian Kirste under the direction of first-time filmmaker and former actress Kirsi Liimatainen.
Shot in a lingering cinéma vérité style, 'Octopusalarm' is a collaborative project between Alex Jürgen and Elisabeth Scharang, a DJ who interviewed Jürgen on her radio show.
Olivier Meyrou’s 'Beyond Hatred' movingly documents the aftermath of the death of Francois Chenu, murdered because of his sexuality, and his family’s journey to come to terms with their loss.
'Amnesia – The James Brighton Enigma' is a great story well told from Canadian director Denis Langlois.
The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is presented by the BFI and programmed by senior programmer Jonathan Keane with Topher Campbell, Anna Dunwoodie, Brian Robinson and Kyle Stephan. LLGFF on Tour is programmed by Heather Osborn.
