Screen East acquires Filmlink

Filmlink, the Film & TV Commission for Hertfordshire, has been acquired by Screen East.
The acquisition of Filmlink completes Screen East’s consolidation as a regional agency covering a wide remit for developing, supporting and promoting every aspect of film, television and the moving image in the East of England.
Screen East Locations, based at Leavesden Studios, Hertfordshire, will be the Film and Television Commission for the East of England, which covers Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Feature Films that have shot in the region recently include Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and The Hours starring Nicole Kidman and Johnny English starring Rowan Atkinson. Television productions include the BBC’s flagship soap EastEnders and Holby City, successful talk show Trisha and Channel Four’s Big Brother 3.
Screen East Locations will match regional locations with the script requirements of the production industry by building on the extensive inward investment of film and television which has grown around the Leavesden and Elstree Studio complexes. Screen East Locations will extend its work across the eastern region benefiting both the economy and supporting industry.
Graham Creelman, Chairman of Screen East and MD of Anglia Television, said: “The establishment of Screen East Locations provides an immensely important strategic link into Hertfordshire and the regional film production industry."
Laurie Hayward, Chief Executive, Screen East said: “ This acquisition completes Screen East’s development as a truly regional agency to service the needs of the industry”.
Chris Holt, Head of Locations at Screen East said: “We are tremendously excited about servicing the Eastern region which boasts a diverse range of locations that we can market to a national and an international film and television industry. In terms of inward investment we estimate that production filming brings an incredible four hundred million pounds into the regional economy each year”
