Acting in TV sees two of the most competitive categories. In the male category, David Tennant received a nomination for Dr Who, taking on Robert Carlyle for The Unloved and Bill Paterson for Spanish Flu - The Forgotten Fallen. Scotland's internationally renowned multimedia industry saw Championship Manager 2010 Express receive a nomination in the Game category, taking on Low Grav Racer and Flock.
This year, for the first time, there are three distinct digital media awards - sponsored by Scottish Enterprise. This recognises the increasing contribution played by Scotland's games, web and interactive markets to the nation's moving image industries.
BAFTA Scotland will again be webcast, with the full awards streamed live on the internet, giving people outside of Scotland and indeed the UK, the opportunity to enjoy the night. You can view all the excitement at: www.baftascotland.co.uk.
Helen Anderson, Director of BAFTA Scotland, said: "I'm delighted to announce the nominations for 2009. The sheer volume of films, TV and games produced in Scotland this year is staggering - a real testament to Scotland's burgeoning industry. There is some inspiring talent both in front of and behind the camera. I'm looking forward to next month's ceremony and announcing our winners."
