MBT & EVS To Demo Integration At IBC 2009

EVS Broadcast Equipment and MBT (Media & Broadcast Technologies) will present a turnkey solution for automatic news production at IBC 2009.
The new integrated news automation solution combining MBT Phoenix software and EVS' XS production server will be presented in Amsterdam, from September 11 - 15 at the MBT stand (Hall 2 Stand B19).
Exclusively at IBC, MBT will unveil its new Phoenix software, designed to automate news production in combination with EVS XS studio servers. The integrated workflow solution combining both systems offers newscasters an unmatched level of speed and usability to build news programmes, from editorial scheduling to broadcasting.
MBT Phoenix news automation systems offer the following key features:
  • News conductor scheduling facility (the play-list is then automatically created)
  • TV News edition facility, including video, graphics, sets and more
  • Completely automated playout facility
Thanks to a touch-sensitive screen and user-friendly software, the newscaster can directly manage his play-list, and choose and send his subjects to playout, with graphics and comments. From an editorial point of view, the technical device control is transparent and automatic, including camera control, video/audio mix, and graphics management.
XS is the new 2- or 4-channel server from EVS, dedicated to tapeless ingest, production and playout in studios. It is available in multiple SD/HD codec configurations and guarantees perfect integration with any existing broadcast infrastructures. Based on its powerful dual networking capabilities (XNet(2) and gigabit Ethernet), XS makes recorded media instantly available across the production network for simultaneous preview, rough editing, archiving, playback or post production. XS accepts the most popular control protocols and because of its open architecture, it offers flawless integration with the best automation systems available on the market.
Demos of MBT Phoenix with direct control of the EVS XS server disks for news production, including playlist creation and playout scheduling and control, with be available during IBC 2009.
Pierre L'Hoest, CEO of EVS, said: "This integration between XS, our latest production server for studio applications, and MBT's renowned automation systems confirms EVS' commitment to provide broadcast studios and newsrooms with extended workflow capabilities in terms speed and efficiency."
Bedro Bengouffa, Head of MBT, added: "The famous performance of EVS servers on flux TV, such as news and sport, perfectly matches MBT's goal to be at the forefront of the rising automated production market, with our Phoenix News Management suite leading the way."
The Phoenix suite is already integrated with EVS systems. For instance, MBT works with EVS' CleanEdit server and XT(2) server to automate the transmission of the news shows at RTL-TVI in Brussels and Channel 1 in Moscow.
