EVS Continues IBC Partnership
EVS is to continue its partnership with the IBC show this year, following news that it will be equipping the official TV and webcasting channel IBC TV News with a fully integrated solution for the fifth consecutive year.
EVS workflow will manage HD ingest, storage, editing and playout. The EVS-powered newsroom environment will handle the entire HD production of IBC TV News’ daily news programmes and flashes, to web-streaming, mobile content, and video podcasts.
The EVS stand, #B90, hall 8, will also act as an exclusive newsroom for the first time, allowing interviews with delegates to be hosted live from the news studio.
The IBC TV News set-up will be based around EVS’ multi-format ingest and playout news workflow, including its XS ingest and playout server for live studio operations, combined with the IPDirector content management suite and Xedio editing suites. All clips and edits will remain available on the EVS XStore SAN near line storage, allowing editors to instantly browse and make edits in real-time.
IBC TV News ENG crews will import XDCAM HD media files using Sony XDCAM SxS and EVS’ Xedio Dispatcher, which will allow for instant review, rough-cut edits and on-the-fly transcoding before transfer to the EVS production server.
EVS’ IPDirector ingest scheduler will manage additional A/V feed acquisition, including weather forecast, VTR and graphics. Once ingested or imported to the XS server, the content will be instantly available for edit or playout. Three XedioCleanEdit stations will also be used to carry out edits, including voice-over, graphics inserts and transition effects.
For post-production, IBC TV News will deploy two Apple Final Cut Pro stations.
IPDirector will manage all the media configured for playout operations on the XS production server and control rundown and playlist on-air actions.
"We’ve worked with EVS for the last five years and the reason we keep going back to them is pretty simple – they provide the fastest and most reliable workflow for live and breaking news," explained Sue Robinson, Producer, IBC TV News.
"News is increasingly consumed at a rapid pace and so it’s a real challenge to keep up with that appetite, but EVS makes all our news operations incredibly efficient. Moreover, the flexibility of not only their solutions but also of the brand itself means we’ll be hosting live interviews from the EVS stand again this year, which makes us much more accessible to delegates." "At EVS, we’re increasingly being recognised for our expertise in the news arena, which comes from recognition of our expertise in dealing with fast, reliable and flexible live productions in predominantly sport and entertainment productions," said Henry Alexander, SVP Entertainment and News division at EVS.
"It’s a great accolade to be working with the IBC TV News team again and it really does highlight just how much faith they have in our news workflow year on year to cater to the serious demands of a breaking news environment."
