Gee Broadcast Systems Selected By Opticomm For UK Distribution

Opticomm, a USA based manufacturer of fibre optic transport and switching systems for video, audio and data signals and has selected Gee Broadcast Systems to handle distribution of its fibre optic transport systems in the UK.
Opticomm have developed a unique advanced platform - Optiva - which competes with advantage against the usual fibre optics transport systems. Optiva can transport multiple signals simultaneously within the same fibre. Any or all of the following may be combined and carried down a single fibre:
  • Analog and digital video
  • Hi definition video (up to 3Gbps)
  • Analog and digital audio
  • VGA and DVI signals
  • L-band (satellite IF)
  • Serial data (RS232, RS422, RS485...)
  • Ethernet
  • Contact closures
Optiva uses a Time Division Multiplex(TDM) technology to provide a greater efficiency than optical combiners used in systems where different frequencies are assigned to different signal.
The TDM allows much better signal packing onto a single fibre. Optical switches can also be used with Optiva to switch signals in a simple manner.
The Optiva systems provide cost effective solutions wherever multiple signals need to be carried over a limited number of Fibres. Applications for Optiva commonly occur in Broadcast, Multimedia, Telecom and large infrastructure projects such as airport buildings.
Gee Broadcast will provide technical support and systems design assistance for users as well as providing sales and marketing in the UK for Opticomm.
