Pinnacle install upgraded Vortex system for Televisa

Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish speaking world, have installed an extensive upgrade of the Pinnacle Vortex networked news system used at the heart of their CH4 broadcast news operations in Mexico City.
The installation includes numerous new workstations based on Pinnacle’s TARGA 3000 video processor and the new Vortex 200 news editing application.
A Televisa spokesperson said: “Continuity was critical for this project. The new systems had to be installed while our regular news operations remained on air using the previous Vortex equipment. It was a big challenge, but our long-standing relationship with Pinnacle and familiarity with the Vortex system gave us the confidence to go forward. Pinnacle upgraded the Vortex system during a single weekend. That Monday we went live with the new systems and cut nearly 30 packages with no problems. Vortex delivers the feature set and reliability Televisa needs to enhance its regional news operations.”
