Scottish Screen appoint new Head of Production
Scottish Screen have named Claire Chapman as their new Head of Production.
Chapman succeeds Steve McIntyre, who was promoted to Chief Executive in August 2001.
Chapman started her career in theatre, producing a string of productions both on the Fringe and in the West End before beginning her film career at Renaissance Films. It was here that she worked on the development and production of such films as 'Wings of the Dove', 'The Madness of King George', and 'Twelfth Night'. Following this, she was Executive Producer on the feature film 'Rogue Trader' with Sir David Frost, before setting up her own film consultancy, working mainly between Hong Kong, Los Angeles and the UK.
McIntyre has expressed his delight that someone with such international experience in the industry is joining Scottish Screen: "Claire brings a real breadth of vision to the Scottish production process as she has been through it herself so can advise and encourage our producers in their work. We are delighted that Claire has chosen to live and work in Scotland."
"I am thrilled to be working with Scottish Screen," added Chapman. "Scotland¹s filmmakers continue to make waves internationally and I relish the challenge of working with them. I also look forward to seeing young filmmakers realise their potential and to continue the invaluable support Scottish Screen has extended to the industry."
Chapman takes up her appointment in October.
