Scottish Screen postpone Obree film project

Scottish Screen and Flying Scotsman Films have announced that due to a last minute funding difficulty, 'The Flying Scotsman', a planned film about cyclist Graeme Obree, is being postponed until the spring.
Steve McIntyre, Chief Executive of Scottish Screen, said: "Scottish Screen have been behind this project since the start and will continue to support Producer Peter Broughan in his efforts to plug the funding gap left after the loss of his American backers. It is unfortunate that this happened at the eleventh hour, which is why last week Scottish Screen stepped in with an advance from the film's Lottery grant to allow the company some extra time to rebuild the budget.
"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone associated with the refinancing of the film, it has not been possible to do so in time to allow principal photography to start next week as planned. We are optimistic that the situation will be remedied to allow a spring shoot next year."
