Nexus Dream Big With Comcast
Nexus work again with Goodby Silverstein and Partners to create a set of stunning commercials for Comcast.
With Smith & Foulkes directing these visually arresting spots, Comcast takes the hightech and renders it brilliantly everyday with an animated stream of consciousness celebration of all things digital.
With a memorable folk ditty spelling out the suprisingly catchy refrain C.O.M.C.A.S.T, and encouraging the mantra of 'Dream Big', this is a technicolour world of ordinary folk hanging out and interacting with a cast of thousands including animated VHS tapes, kung fu ninjas, penguins, giant manga squirrels, dancing ice cream cones and spacemen - on space hoppers amongst others.
Built with an isometric style perspective often seen in illustration and gaming, the set is unique and is a genuine 3D built construction with a 2D render. All the individually constructed elements were designed then carefully pieced together by a team of skilled animators & compositors.
Smith and Foulkes said: "It was really the music that first attracted us to the Comcast project. With this as out starting point we thought it would be fun to create a world where the whole community lives to the rhythm of the music.
"We decided there would be no cuts and the environment would be totally isometric. It was fun for us because we got to shoot the cast performing. We even make a cameo if you look close enough.
Using an arresting illustration style our 3D team built Comcast Town to comp the live action into. We liked the idea that whilst the real cast get on with their ordinary daily business there is a plethora of incidental strange animated characters that not only reinforce the song lyrics but have a lot of fun doing so."
Nexus have also created animated interactive banners for the campaign with Goodby, launching on various sites across America this week.
Also working closely with Unit 9, the team has developed a unique web presence for 'Comcast Town' where individuals are invited to customise their own living space and more games and experiences will follow.
Seamlessly art directed to match the TV, banner and print campaign, the web is as visually engaging as the original spots.
