Icon Films Secures First Commission From History, 'All About Dung'

Icon Films has received its first commission from History to produce 'All About Dung'.
Hosted by Royal Marine turned marine biologist Monty Halls, the two-hour special investigates the historical, cultural, medical, scientific and evolutionary importance of dung.
This jet-setting doc takes Monty to spectacular locations in the US, India, Egypt, UK, South Africa and Borneo to explore the history of human and animal waste.
We'll learn how excrement can be used as both a tool by historians to reveal secrets from the past and a valuable natural resource used by many cultures throughout time for survival.
During his travels, Monty also discovers the religious and cultural significance of dung, as well as giving viewers an insight into the ecosystems that thrive and depend on dung.
But that's not all. This in-depth look at the history of dung reveals many other uses. It was a major component in early explosives, is the source of the world's most expensive coffee, can charge a cell phone, and may even help solve some energy and food concerns today. In this epic odyssey through natural and human history, our aversion to poop just might turn into an understanding of how miraculous and essential the stuff really is.
'All About Dung' will air worldwide on History and has already aired in the US. Harry Marshall, Co-Founder and Executive Producer for Icon Films, said: "History offers the perfect platform for 'All About Dung', a show which takes viewers on a fascinating journey to examine the many faces of faeces. We are delighted to have secured our first commission for the channel and hope to continue to build on this relationship in the future."
'All About Dung' is written and directed by Charlotte Jones from Icon Films. The Executive Producer for Icon Films is Harry Marshall and the Executive Producer for History is Susan Werbe.
'All About Dung' is distributed by AETN International.
