Icon Films Announce First Head Of Popular Factual

Bristol-based factual producer Icon Films, has appointed Owen Gay, former Commissioning Editor for The ONE Show, as its first Head of Popular Factual.
The appointment forms part of a wider strategy to increase the number of hours the company is producing across features and popular factual. He will work across both development and production.
Gay joined The One show as Commissioning Editor in 2008, where he was responsible for commissioning VTs from independent and in-house suppliers – over 700 x 5’ inserts annually.
Prior to this he worked as an Executive Producer for BBC Factual – Features and Formats and produced/directed on high profile series' including Watchdog (BBC1), That’s Life (BBC1) and Channel 4 Daily.
Laura Marshall, Managing Director of Icon Films, said: "This is an incredibly important step for Icon Films. We are delighted and excited to have such an experienced and talented executive join our senior management team – we are really looking forward to having Owen on board. Icon Films’ popular factual slate is expanding and Owen will help us build on that success."
