Sky History Launches 'Hosting History'

Sky HISTORY®, in collaboration with The TV Foundation, has launched 'Hosting History', an exciting competition offering fresh, dynamic individuals a unique opportunity to host their own short-form TV show on history.
The competition invites participants from across the UK, who are studying or working in academia, to submit a short video (30 seconds to 2 minutes) presenting their take on any historical topic. The topic can range from a significant event, a fascinating figure, or an aspect of social history.
Committed to amplifying fresh voices and bringing new perspectives to history, no prior TV experience is required for the entry process. Participants just need to illustrate a passion for history and the ability to engage a younger social media -savvy audience with their original and captivating storytelling.
After a rigorous judging process, the winner will receive an amazing opportunity, as Sky HISTORY will commission a 5 to 8-minute short-form TV programme with the winner as the host. This short form programme will be broadcast across Sky HISTORY, HISTORY Play, and various social media platforms, showcasing the winner’s passion for history on the UK’s premier dedicated Pay TV history brand.
Sam Pearson, Head of Short Form Commissioning at Hearst Networks UK said: "We're so proud to be partnering with The TV Foundation on this brand-new project to find exciting new history communicators. Together with our growing short-form programming slate, Hosting History strengthens Sky HISTORY's continued efforts in working with the best, brightest and most engaging experts and contributors."
"Hosting History is an exciting addition to the TV Foundation's work to bring academia and TV together by demystifying the creative process and making it more accessible," Gemma Bradshaw, Impact Director, TV Foundation added. "There are so many brilliant, original stories from research across arts and humanities, we can't wait to see the entries and give someone a chance for their ideas to reach a new audience with Sky History."
