Satirical US Election Video Gets Networked

A specialist digital distributor, Myvideorights.com has signed an exclusive UK, Europe and Asia deal with The Onion News Network to distribute its satirical video content in the lead up to the US Presidential election and beyond.
The deal with myvideorights.com follows the unprecedented amount of interest that the UK and Europe has shown in the US presidential election to date.
The Onion News Network, keen to capitalise on this interest, has decided to distribute their brand of satirical footage commenting on the recent campaigns across the UK and Europe.
The Onion News Network was launched in March 2007 as an offshoot of The Onion, a student newspaper created at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988.
The network produces satirical footage of current events, both real and imagined, and broadcasts 24/7. It parodies news networks such as CNN and ABC, with much of its humour stemming from interviews and news footage of current events.
Launched by Ashley Mackenzie and Richard Mansell, myvideorights.com is backed by Peter Bazalgette, Rupert Dilnott-Cooper and Kelvin Mackenzie.
The company's mission is to help content owners and publishers achieve greater value from digital distribution. To date, myvideorights.com has signed up a number of major content owners, including All3media International, Film & General Productions (owned by Clive Parsons), and Zodiak Plc.
Myvideorights.com provides only rights-cleared content and allows entertainment producers an effective way of monetising their video and enables digital publishers to acquire safe, clean advertiser-friendly media.
Ashley Mackenzie, Chief Executive Officer of myvideorights.com said: "The Onion News network wanted to capitalise on the popularity of its coverage, in particular around the US elections, and we can ensure the footage is broadcast to a wide, online audience.
"We are excited to work with Onion exclusively to bring their brilliantly crafted brand of satire to the UK and Europe."
Sean Mills of The Onion also commented: "This deal was strategically timed to fit in with the amount of interest that the US Presidential election has received in Europe.
"Our partnership with myvideorights.com offers us the chance to bring The Onion News Network's coverage of America's flawless and vastly superior political process to customers in the UK and Europe."
