BDL-Autoscript supply Teleprompters to Indian broadcaster
BDL-Autoscript have won a £140,000 order for 43 +WinPlus+ Teleprompting systems (example pictured) from the Indian State broadcaster Doordarshan, making them one of the largest single users of BDL systems in the world.
Over 100 BDL systems have been installed over the last eight years, and include 40 paper based CCTV systems and eight computer based location units. The Teleprompters were supplied through the exclusive BDL distributors for India, Cinecita Comoptronics Industries, who are based in Mumbai, New Delhi, Koltata and Chennai.
“We have worked very hard to establish BDL in this niche market,” commented Prakash Agarwal, managing director of Cinecita, “and we are happy that the strength of the product is now understood.”
Chris Lambert, managing director of BDL, said: “We have a had long and excellent relationship with Doordarshan, but this was a very important order for us to win. By providing a digital prompting system capable of servicing all the major Indian Languages, some not yet supported by Windows, illustrates the versatility of the +WinPlus+ Prompting for Windows Software.”
Doordarshan is the Indian government owned broadcasting network which is now an autonomous body running under Prasar Bharati. It has a large number of centres called Doordarshan Kendras located throughout India.
The BDL prompters will be installed in regional centres throughout the country and will be mainly used for news presentations. Earlier this year the Indian prime minister used a BDL teleprompting system to deliver the Independence Day message to the country.
