Panther Express Selected To Power I4U News Site
Panther Express, a leading global provider of high-performance content delivery services, has announced that they have been selected as the content delivery network (CDN) for I4U News, one of the topline tech and gadget lifestyle magazines in the US and UK.
The site attracts an affluent audience of tech and gadget enthusiasts and consumers, and provides in-depth coverage of the latest hot gadgets, portable devices, mobile phones, home entertainment, notebooks, PCs and gaming.
With over 500,000 unique visitors per month and 1.2 million page views per month, I4U is a leading tech news site. Every day, about 30 to 40 new articles and reviews are posted to meet the information needs of their audience of mostly male, 24 to 40-year-old early adopters, geeks and consumer electronics fans.
I4U News selected Panther Express to deliver over a million objects a day including web site graphics, product imagery and their very popular "gadget models".
According to Luigi Lugmayr, Founder and Managing Director of I4U News: "We originally hosted all our images ourselves, but we realised that we needed to provide a faster response and higher online quality. We looked at the competition and selected Panther CDN because they understood our company, our needs and were able to provide the personal service that we required."
Gad Stanislas, VP International of Panther Express, said: "I4U, like many new media sites, gets lots of spikes in their traffic. When an I4U review or gadget model gets picked up by Digg or Slashdot, their bandwidth needs often jump by a factor of ten times or more. Our scalable network handles these explosions in popularity without missing a beat. In fact, our business terms make it easy for customers with spiky traffic as we don't penalise them for bursting through an arbitrary limit."
Luigi added: "At first, we didn't think we could afford the services of a Content Delivery Network. We ran the numbers and discovered that it made more sense to use Panther CDN than to buy additional servers to meet our exploding bandwidth requirements. The final selling point for us was how straight forward and easy it was to use Panther CDN. We were up and running very quickly. It was like magic."
