Snake Ranch complete unique film mix

Snake Ranch Studios in London have recently completed a 5.1 soundtrack mix for the BFI's DVD release of Jean Genet's short film, 'Un Chant d’Amour'.
The work was written and directed by Genet in 1950 and is the only transposition of his ideas and writing onto film.
The BFI commissioned Simon Fisher Turner to create a soundtrack for this originally silent avant-garde classic.
Gerry O’Riordan, chief engineer at Snake Ranch, said: "Simon knows that we do a great deal of film score mixing here and asked me if I would help him to get the most out of the spatial possibilities of 5.1 audio.
"Simon's work complements Genet's visual images very nicely and we have used the 5.1 format to optimise the emotional effect of the soundtrack. The entire project has been recorded and mixed in Protools, monitoring directly into my Spendor SA300s."
O'Riordan was also responsible for mixing Deirdre Gribbin's orchestral score for 'My Kingdom', starring Richard Harris and Lynn Redgrave, which had its Liverpool première on October 8.
"Deirdre's strongly atmospheric soundtrack really enhances the film's powerful imagery," said Gerry.
'My Kingdom' went on general release Friday, October 11.
