Voting Opens For MGEITF Channel Of The Year Award
Voting for the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival Channel of the Year Award has now opened.
Now in its seventh consecutive year, the Channel of the Year awards are presented for the Best Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial television channels.
The winner will be announced during the Festival Awards Ceremony on August 23, 2008.
YouGov are inviting members of the public to vote on the online poll, on criteria such as programming, commercial success, innovation, successful targeting and channel branding.
Channels will be shortlisted and asked to provide company data and a showreel that will be judged by the MGEITF Executive Committee. In addition, to the traditional measurements of success covered by the YouGov poll, other criteria will include the short-listed channels' websites, broadband content and interactive services, which will also be assessed by the judging panel when making their final decision.
The Channel of the Year Award is in recognition of the increasingly competitive and often challenging market that today's broadcasters operate in, and to celebrate the creative, innovative and commercial solutions that channels present.
ITV2 won the Non-Terrestrial category in 2007, with BBC4 and BBC3 taking the honours in 2006 and 2005 respectively. The Non-Terrestrial award was won by BBC One in 2007 and Channel 4 in 2006.
All voters are offered the chance of winning a delegate pass for the Festival.
The MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival offers delegates a varied programme of topical debates, masterclasses, keynote lectures and networking opportunities from leading UK and international media figures.
The festival is a delegate entry event, which annually attracts over 2,000 delegates from all sectors and levels of the industry including a range of terrestrial broadcasters, cable, satellite and digital companies and independent producers.
The festival runs from August 22 - 24 and delegate online registration opened in April. Further information is available: www.mgeitf.co.uk.
