Voting Opens For Channel Of The Year Awards 2010
Voting for this year’s MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival’s Channel of the Year Awards opened this week so now is the time to rewind, reflect and review the best TV of the last year.
The Channel of the Year Awards are one of the most highly regarded by the TV industry so don’t miss your chance to cast your vote.
For the first time in the awards history, more children’s channels have entered than ever before for Best Non-Terrestrial Channel of the Year, with Cartoon Network, CBBC, CBeebies, Disney and Disney Playhouse competing to win this prestigious award. Other channels entered include BBC Three, BBC Four, Comedy Central, E4, FIVER, ITV2, Sky Arts, and Yesterday (UKTV), among others.
Non-terrestrial channels have each entered two minute showreels for consideration, available to view on the Festival website. Voters, made up of festival delegates, the industry and interested members of the public, can first view videos and then complete an online survey designed by YouGov, creating a shortlist of five nominations in each of the three categories: Best Non-Terrestrial Channel of the Year, Best Non-Terrestrial Programme of the Year and Best Terrestrial Programme of the Year.
The winners will be jointly selected by the Festival’s Executive Committee and a live vote during the Channel of The Year Awards ceremony, hosted by top funny man Jack Whitehall on Saturday, August 28th at The Festival in Edinburgh.
Now in its 9th consecutive year, the Channel of the Year Awards is in recognition of the increasingly competitive and often challenging market that today's broadcasters operate in, and to celebrate the creative, innovative and commercial solutions that channels present.
Voting deadline is Thursday, May 13th at midnight. All voters will enter a prize draw to win a delegate pass and accommodation for the Festival.
