MGEITF Names Channel Of The Year Award Nominees

The MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival has announced the shortlist for the 7th annual Channel of the Year awards.
The winners will be revealed during the Festival Awards Ceremony on August 23, 2008.
The six channels in the running for the Best Non Terrestrial Channel Award are Dave, E4, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2 and Sky One.
BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Five will all fight it out for the Nest Terrestrial Channel.
Now shortlisted, the channels will be asked to provide company data and a showreel that will be judged by the MGEITF Executive Committee.
Members of the public have been voting since the end of April in an online YouGov poll on criteria such as programming, innovation, targeting and channel branding. There are five awards in total, including two brand new categories - Best Terrestrial Programme of the Year and Best Non Terrestrial Programme of the Year. The Network and Fast Track choice Award will also be announced.
This year's Awards will be designed by the winner of a competition organised in association with Art-s-talker, a creative agency which represents designers across all areas of the creative industries.
The winning design will reflect the values of the Festival - inclusive, innovative, edgy, celebratory, vibrant, multi platform, diverse.
The MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival is a delegate entry event, which annually attracts over 2,000 delegates from all sectors and levels of the industry, including a range of terrestrial broadcasters, cable, satellite and digital companies and independent producers.
The event runs from August 22 - 24. Further information is available at: www.mgeitf.co.uk.
