Bollywood Portal Makes Debut At Max Stardust Awards

Bollywood.tv the largest portal for South Asian film and entertainment content, celebrated its launch among the crème of the Indian film industry at the Max Stardust Awards 2008, India’s esteemed version of the Oscars, on Saturday 26 January 2008, Mumbai.
As it made its debut, www.bollywood.tv took the Max Stardust Awards 2008 global by becoming its official and exclusive online voting site, a first in the history of the event. The Max Stardust Awards 2008 acknowledged www.bollywood.tv’s influential role in promoting the Stardust brand name internationally, by drawing global visitors from 128 countries to the site to place their nominations for the awards. This year, the awards had a tri-party voting system, collecting India votes from members of the jury and via Magna Mag readers, and international votes through the www.bollywood.tv website. Voting on www.bollywood.tv closed on Saturday 26th January 12.00GMT and was delivered immediately to the other parties, where 182,753 visits were recorded and approximately 1,400 viewers voted for the Max Stardust Awards online.
Bollywood’s hottest property, Akshay Kumar, made a sweeping victory across the thousands of votes that flooded in and dominated the star-studded ceremony by scooping the Stardust Star of the Year Award – Male, for his shining performances in Heyy Babyy and Namastey London.
The synergy with Stardust demonstrated the close affiliation www.bollywood.tv shares with the key institutions and influencers within the South Asian film industry. In commenting on the partnership between Stardust and www.bollywood.tv, Nigel Glynn-Davies, CEO, www.bollywood.tv said: “www.bollywood.tv is proud to have been associated with the prestigious event, encouraging up and coming talent whilst honouring the established stars of today. By being the Max Stardust Awards 2008 online voting partner, we were able to bring the ability to vote onto a global footing and in turn boost the recognition of the awards and the nominees themselves.”
