Panasonic P2 Gets Hawk-Woods The Link Treatment

Hawk-Woods have announced that this year's Videoforum/Broadcast Live Exhibition will give visitors the first chance to view the Panasonic P2 version of their successful DV Link Battery-System.
Following a year of impressive sales of the Sony compatible version and demand from users of the AG-HVX200, this news will be welcomed by many.
The system allows the powering and mounting of additional equipment from a single Mini DV camera battery. This is achieved via a series of linking power adaptors and mounts which integrate with the unique Hawk-Woods battery and each other.
Camera operators can now power a lamp, hard disk or radio mic from the same battery that is powering the camera. Sennheiser, Firestore and Sony Link solutions are all currently available.
Brian Woodford, Co-Director at Hawk-Woods believes the move into Panasonic compatibility is a good one - The DV Link Battery-System has proved very successful following its launch at last year's Videoforum.
Woodford said: "All of the feedback we have had from those using the system with Sony MDV cameras has been very positive. Adding Link compatibility to the P2 has come about largely from operator demand and it makes a lot of sense.
"We are very much looking forward to demonstrating our 6600mA CGA replacement Link battery at the exhibition.
"It is not only the P2 that is getting the Link treatment. 2008 year will also see Link compatibility given to the Canon XL range of cameras.
"With a side situated battery port, these cameras will be able to take full advantage of the Link system. This again will be achieved with a Hawk-Woods produced BP replacement Link battery," he said.
You can find Hawk-Woods on stand D28 at Videoforum/Broadcast Live 2008, which runs from January 30 to February 1, 2008.
