SIS Outside Broadcasts Invests In Link Wireless Camera Systems
SIS Outside Broadcasts Ltd, formerly BBC Outside Broadcasts, is placing a significant order for L1500 wireless camera systems from Link Research.
The systems are to be used in many different production environments, ranging from entertainment and studio shows to news and sports.
SIS Outside Broadcasts is buying Link's L1500 model, which offers the advantage of operating in SD or HD, with an easy software upgrade to High Definition. The frequencies available for broadcasters to use are changing so Link offers a set of optional frequency modules, which can be swapped to suit customers' needs.
SIS Outside Broadcasts has chosen to operate their wireless cameras at 3GHz, which is becoming the frequency of choice in the UK, as the sell-off of the 2.5GHz band continues.
Link Research has developed its own LMS-T and special modulation techniques so that its transmitters will give optimum performance at higher frequencies.
SIS Outside Broadcasts will be able to use its Link wireless camera systems for OB applications, with cellular diversity sites and in studios. Wireless camera equipment has already been introduced for shows such as 'I'd Do Anything'.
SIS Outside Broadcasts owns a large fleet of 15 television production units, plus sound, support and communications vehicles and award-winning special cameras and operates out of self-contained premises in Langley. The company is part of a long-established media business and a wholly owned subsidiary of Satellite Information Services. Further information is available at: www.sis.tv.
Link Research is a £13 million company with a reputation for technical innovation and an outstanding range of wireless products for electronic newsgathering. The company became part of the Vislink group - a £100 million global technology business with companies in the broadcast contribution and the defence and security markets, in February 2005.
