Ed Williams Appointed BBC Head Of Corporate Communications

Former director of corporate affairs at Reuters, Ed Williams, is to take on the role as the new BBC head of corporate communications.
Williams will begin in the first quarter of 2008, succeeding Sally Osman.
In his role, Williams will work directly with BBC director general Mark Thompson and report to Tim Davie, the BBC’s director of marketing, communications and audience.
Williams trained as a journalist at the London News Service and moved on to roles such as producer, reporter and editor at Reuters Television and GMTV.
He then moved into corporate communications to become an adviser at PR firm Brunswick. He has also worked as a media consultant to General Wesley Clark and Italian politician Emma Bonino.
Williams commented: “I am delighted to be working at the BBC at a time that is redefining its relationship with its audiences and leading innovation in the media industry.”
Thompson added: “Ed’s corporate communications experience at Reuters, along with his consultancy and broadcast journalism experience, is exactly the right mix to lead such work.”
