European Film Awards To Present 'Prix Eurimages'
For the first time, this year’s European Film Awards Ceremony will include the presentation of an award for co-production – the Prix Eurimages.
Eurimages, the support fund for co-production, distribution, exhibition and digitisation of European cinematographic works, has become a patron of the European Film Academy and has created this reward for European co-producers to acknowledge the decisive position which co-production occupies within the European film industry.
The first Prix Eurimages will go to two important producers who have distinguished themselves by contributing in an important manner to the development and promotion of European cinema, notably through co-production: Margaret Menegoz and Dr. Veit Heiduschka.
Margaret Menegoz is a producer, distributor, exporter and since 1975 managing director of Les Films du Losange, established in 1962 by Barbet Schroeder and Eric Rohmer.
President of Unifrance, member of the French-German Film Academy, the Association of Film Exporters and the 'Conseil d’Administration de la Cinémathèque française', Margaret Menegoz has constantly worked for the promotion of European cinema.
Following his studies in industry and commerce, Dr. Veit Heiduschka studied philosophy, psychology, philology and theatre before working on several executive productions and becoming manager of various production companies. In 1980, he founded the company Wega Film where he has worked until now as managing director and with which he has produced a large number of films for both television and the cinema and often in co-production with other companies. He has notably produced most of the films by Michael Haneke.
The Prix Eurimages will be presented by the Serbian film director Stefan Arsenijević.
