Grand Slam Success For Gearhouse Broadcast

Broadcast Solutions provider Gearhouse Broadcast has completed a successful Wimbledon for host broadcaster BBC.
Working with Adrian Kingston, the BBC Outside Broadcasts’ Engineering Manager responsible for technical operations at Wimbledon, Gearhouse Broadcast supplied a large variety of equipment for this summer’s tournament. This included cameras, lenses, monitors and systems equipment such as vision routers, glue and distribution amplifiers. Centre Court and Court 1 were both covered in high definition this year.
Adrian Kingston said: "The Wimbledon Championships are one of the biggest and most complex annual events that we cover and Gearhouse Broadcast supplied a large quantity of equipment to support this year’s successful coverage, including five HD and four SD Super Motion cameras, nine HD and 12 SD EVS systems, plus HD / SD distribution and audio embedding equipment.”
Prior to the event Gearhouse Broadcast’s Rental department and engineering staff liaised with BBC Outside Broadcasts’ engineers to ensure that the correct equipment was supplied to deliver the technical solution required. The equipment was then thoroughly tested and configured by Gearhouse Broadcast engineers at the Watford offices before being delivered to site. Any additional equipment required throughout transmission reached site within an hour of a request. During the set up week, prior to the event, Gearhouse supplied a project engineer to assist BBC Outside Broadcasts’ engineers with the integration of the equipment into the BBC facility. During the event Gearhouse provided 24/7 technical back up in case of any failures.
