dB Broadcast install equipment for BBC World Cup coverage

dB Broadcast, the leading Cambridgeshire-based systems integrator, have completed a successful installation for BBC.
dB Broadcast was selected by BBC Technology to install an encoding and multiplexing system from Philips Digital Networks at BBC Television Centre, west London, to enable the BBC to provide digital broadcasts of the World Cup.
The new equipment, together with another Philips system installed last year, was also used to broadcast coverage of this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament.
The new system, which was designed and prefabricated by dB before delivery to BBC Technology, converts a number of broadcast feeds into compressed digital format for uplinking.
Tom Swan, dB's director of sales and marketing, said: "Once again, our ability to prefabricate at our custom-built premises enabled us to deliver this system to a very tight schedule. Another telling factor is our vast experience with encoding and compression equipment."
