Liquid News install PDS 9000 switcher

Pinnacle Systems have announced that Liquid News, the entertainment news programme from BBC Choice, have installed a PDS 9000 switcher in the newly enlarged and refurbished studio TC11 at Television Centre.
Liquid News is an extremely successful programme, with a prolific output which includes its own live broadcasts six nights a week on BBC Choice, and editions for other BBC networks. The new switcher is important as it allows Liquid News to add more effects to the live transmissions.
Richard Carr, the Director of Liquid News, explained why he went for the PDS 9000: “When we started Liquid News we only had a small studio with very basic facilities, but the programme has been so popular that we moved to a larger studio with a bigger budget for new equipment. Getting a new vision mixer was vital as I wanted the programme to be more visually exciting, and the existing switcher just wasn’t up to it.
“I talked to people in the industry and they recommended the Pinnacle PDS 9000, so I had a look at it and liked it. It has nine internal DVEs which allow us to add all sorts of great effects, and it is very easy to use - all I have to do is hit a button to control multi-key effects across the multiple M/E banks, including DVE animation and GPI control of external equipment. It is an added bonus that the PDS 9000 is very competitively priced.”
