Bowden Provides Illustrated Lecture As Part Of Wrexam Festival

One of the special animation events for the Wrexham Science Festival there will be an illustrated talk by Chris Bowden, Executive Producer at Cosgrove Hall Films.
Cosgrove Hall Films was founded in 1976 by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall. In 2006 Cosgrove Hall Films celebrated its 30th anniversary and Chris Bowden will give an insight into the early days of animation through to the present day. His talk will feature clips from animation favourites including 'DangerMouse', 'The Wind in the Willows', 'The BFG', 'Postman Pat', 'Engie Benjy', and many more.
The lecture, guaranteed to be an evening of laughter and nostalgia not to be missed, will be held at NEWI at 6.30pm on Friday March 30. Tickets are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for children and concessions and can be purchased by calling 01978 292015.
As part of Scientriffic, the family science day on the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) Plas Coch campus there will be some animation workshops run by HOT Animation. HOT Animation has had huge success throughout the world with Bob the Builder, Pingu and Rubbadubbers.
Jud Walton who will run the workshops has been an animator on many of the productions. He will bring along sets and characters from Pingu to demonstrate the art and craft of animation. Young audience members will be selected to join him on stage to be animated themselves in workshops that are guaranteed to be both interesting and fun! The workshops are especially suited to children aged 7 or above.
Scientriffic runs from 10am until 4pm on Saturday March 31. Tickets are priced at adults £6, children £4, family tickets £15 and organised groups of 10 or more at £3 per person. Tickets are available by calling 01978 292015 or can be brought on the day.
Also as part of Scientriffic lecturers and animation students from the North Wales School of Art and Design at NEWI will be running workshops where participants will be able to make their own models and see how animations are produced. These fun workshops will run at 11am and 1.30pm, and places must be reserved with Techniquest@NEWI on 01978 293400 and a Scientriffic ticket purchased.
The North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) runs an MA Animation and a BA (Hons) Design: Animation through its North Wales School of Art and Design. Graduates from these courses have an excellent employability record and many are employed at the animation companies related to these talks and exhibition.
NEWI is a full member of the University of Wales and offers University of Wales degrees.
