Skillset Announce Animation And Computer Games Showcase

On July 1, 2008, Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media, will be showcasing the very best of new talent that the UK has to offer to the animation and computer games industries.
The Skillset Animation and Computer Games Showcase, organised and funded by the sector skills council for creative media, will provide graduates from Skillset's approved network of accredited institutions the opportunity to show off their work and network with future employers.
The event will take place at the RSA in London between 4pm - 7pm, in an informal exhibition space that will allow graduates to showcase their innovative and inspiring work.
Graduates and employers will be able to network informally over drinks, discussing future employment within the animation and computer games industry.
In previous years, the event has proved very successful for graduates and employers alike, with graduates from last year securing interviews with companies such as Nickelodeon UK and Double Negative and employers such as Climax Group and The Moving Picture Company, offering positions to certain students after the event.
Chris Chilton, Computer Games and Animation Manager at Skillset, said: "The Skillset Animation and Computer Games Showcase is a fantastic opportunity for both graduates and employers. It is a unique event as it provides graduates with an opportunity that they would not usually get, enabling them to reach out to employers from some of the top companies within the animation and games industry."
The list of accredited institutions that are eligible to take part in the event consisted of:
  • Arts Institute of Bournemouth

  • University for the Creative Arts, Farnham

  • Bournemouth University

  • Glamorgan Centre for Art & Design Technology

  • University of Wales, Newport

  • University of Teesside

  • University of Aberlay, Dundee

Other courses from Skillset's network of Screen and Media Academies will also be present.
