Screen Yorkshire Appoint Sally Joynson as Chief Executive

The agency celebrates a remarkable year of achievement with the appointment of Sally Joynson as Chief Executive.
Joynson has worked with Screen Yorkshire since its formation in 2002 as Head of Industry Development and more recently as Acting Chief Executive. She has extensive experience of cultivating businesses and partnerships and has provided investment, guidance and support to develop companies in the TV, Film and Games sector in Yorkshire. Joynson has successfully positioned Screen Yorkshire as a key player with national partners on a number of initiatives including business growth schemes with PACT, Channel 4, Scottish Enterprise and Skillset.
In May 2006 Joynson was instrumental in securing £10.2m funding from Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward for an ambitious four year programme.
Steve Abbott, Chair of Screen Yorkshire was delighted to announce Sally’s appointment: "Sally was one of the chief architects of the successful bid for funding from Yorkshire Forward, and her steady approach has given Screen Yorkshire clarity and purpose as we face the exciting challenge of growing the region¹s screen industries. We're delighted she's going to be leading the team as they meet that challenge."
Joynson will take up her new position as Chief Executive from immediate effect and will be undertaking further recruitment to expand Screen Yorkshire’s staff to deliver its 2010 visionary plan.
Joynson enthused: "I’m thrilled to be appointed as Chief Executive for Screen Yorkshire at such an exciting time of rapid global film and media development. Yorkshire has a robust reputation for film and TV production and my aim is to ensure that Screen Yorkshire are actively cultivating, supporting and growing innovation and creativity to enable the region to be the regional centre of excellence for all things media."
Jim Farmery, Head of Innovation at Yorkshire Forward commented: “Yorkshire and Humber has one of the fastest growing creative and digital industries outside of London and is a centre for post production work in the North.
"I am confident that under Sally’s direction, Screen Yorkshire will continue to support the development of the industry in Yorkshire and Humber, growing its reputation and contributing to the success of the regional economy."
Screen Yorkshire was established in 2002, with funding from Yorkshire Forward, the UK Film Council and Skillset.
Screen Yorkshire is one of nine Regional Screen Agencies and is responsible for inspiring, promoting and supporting a successful and sustainable film, broadcast and interactive media sector across Yorkshire and Humber.
