DVA provide BBC 'Malai Cream of Comedy' graphics

DVA have created the title sequence and stings for the new BBC 'Malai Cream of Comedy' show.
It was designed by DVA head of graphics Mark Breakwell and built and animated by his team. The sequences feature a ‘Comedy Malai’ pinball machine seen from the ball's point of view, bouncing between bumpers and various other parts of the machine. At times the six featured Asian comedy acts are seen in on-table graphics and as live-action inside the ball.
Animation was created using a mixture of ‘dynamics’ and ‘key-framing’. A simplified version of the table was made for the dynamic simulation and a noise modifier was used to rapidly scale all of the 'bouncy' table surfaces to simulate the ball hitting springs.
3DStudio Max 5 was used for the 3D animation and DVA’s Avid/DS for compositing, while sound effects were added in DVA Audio 2.
